The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was loud but efficient. Apart from that there are a lot of negatives. I have no issue staying in cheaper accommodation however a minimum is still expected. The remote wasn't the same brand as the TV and did not work. The shower takes a couple of minutes to heat up or even adjust to any changes you make to the temperature. This means it takes a few minutes just to get the water to a decent temperature or you take it cold. The fridge didn't work when I got there and even when I notified the front desk they told me that they'd send someone up, which they never did. I was woken up several times due to people talking and playing music on their phones, I don't think they were being overly loud but the lack of noise isolation between rooms makes it impossible to sleep. When I did notify the front desk, the person wasn't very happy about it. He pretty much signed and said "You better not be lying about the room next to you being noisy". Which is exactly what you want at 1am when you already feel bad for reporting the noise. On top of that, he didn't even bother to double check my claims, he just rang their phone straight away. Very bizarre approach as I'm sure this situation occurs often.
Came too early and was still let in by a kind receptionist who made everything clear. Kitchen had almost everything you needed except something to dry plates with. Place was tidy, spacious and clean and beds were very comfortable. Price felt over the top given it wasn’t some 5 star hotel but manageable. Overall little to complain about and the nitpicking details weren’t enough to drag it down a star. Could definitively do it again :)
Room and bathroom was very clean and mattress was comfortable but overall the room was very basic. The blind did not close and was torn leaving it hanging from the window. But most frustratingly, the shower was awful. It was either too cold or too hot and the water simply trickled out of the shower head. At £130+ I would expect the shower to work.
I don't really know where to start. Our stay was a little bit unexpected: the pictures I saw before I booked the room had nothing to do with what we found when we arrived. The shower didn't work properly and the room was not very clean. On the other hand, the staff were very nice and helpful and the location was good and super convenient. There was also a metro station at walking distance.
UPDATE: After staying at the Central Hoxton I like to add to my review underneath. The location is good with Buses and trains in proximity. The studio is spacious with a kitchen area (fridge, microwave, washing machine) the bathroom is alright. Not much pressure in the shower and it takes some time to find the right temperature. At check-in I was not told what number to dial from the room when wanting to talk to reception. only on the second day in the afternoon, I was made aware that there is a discount at the café next door. So all in all: I would stay there if in need of accommodation but isn't my first choice. Lack of flexibility, lack of understanding As my plans from work have changed 3 days before check-on I called to kindly ask them to waive the cancellation fee which would be the full amount of the 3 night stay. The lady at reception said they cannot- which we all know is not true. Very disappointed as they also did not even offer to keep the booking but change it to a later date as I will come to London once a month for the next 2 years.
